Cresencia Tafoya is the mother of noted potters Harriet Tafoya and Annie Baca. This is one of her highly polished red pieces.  The feathers are painted with a red clay slip and the cloud design is painted with a white clay slip.  The piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom.
