Emily Tafoya was the wife of noted potter Ray Tafoya and is the mother of Jennifer Tafoya.  Each piece is coil built, stone polished, traditionally outdoor fired and then etched with designs.  This seedpot is fully polished green and then etched with two large hummingbirds and large flowers.  They are highlighted with additional clay slips for more coloration.  There is also a small micaceous area which is where the hole is for the seedpot, which is designed like an old style traditional hummingbird.  It is signed on the bottom, Emily Tafoya.
