Tafoya, Emily – Large Red & Green Seedpot with Wolf and Deer Dancers
Emily Tafoya was the wife of noted potter Ray Tafoya and is the mother of Jennifer Tafoya. Each piece is coil built, stone polished, traditionally outdoor fired and then etched with designs. This is a complicated larger seedpot. It has two large Pueblo style dancers. One is a Wolf Dancer and the other a Deer Dancer. Between them is a full figure deer. On the opposite side is a micaceous green feather design. The entire piece is fully designed and then highlighted with additional clay slips for more coloration. It is signed on the bottom, Emily Tafoya.
