12"w x 8"h

$ 825.00

Forrest Tafoya is a son of Lucy Yearflower Tafoya, a grandson of Camilio Tafoya and the brother of Shawn, Kelli Little Katchina, and Myra Little Snow.  This bowl is from the 1990s.  Forrest made pieces that were inspired by the rock art and petroglyphs of the Southwest.  Here, he has used the clay to create the appearance of being “rock” and the petroglyph designs are etched into the clay.  There are various designs which are classic in style.  The flow of imagery and precision of the etching is striking.  The bowl is signed on the bottom in the clay “Forrest Tafoya”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
