This is an intricately designed lidded bowl by Jennifer Tafoya from 2005.  The bowl is coil-built and fully polished. The bowl has butterflies and flowers encircling the piece.  They are each etched into the clay and then highlighted with various colors of clay slips.  The rim and base of the bowl are etched with cloud, and rain designs.  All the various colors are derived from natural clay slips.  Jennifer continues to be one of the leading innovative potters working today!  The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Jennifer & Mike Moquino”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  This bowl was made around the same time as the large butterfly jar by Jennifer featured in “Spoken Through Clay”.
