This is an unusually shaped jar by Jennifer Tafoya. It has a wide shoulder and double spouts on the top.  The jar is wide with a sharp shoulder.  On the top is an avanyu with water in the spring with cherry blossoms.  Note how she has used the black polished surface to create the body of the avanyu!  The waves are colored to precsion and seem in motion.  The bottom of the jar has another avanyu in the Fall with maple leaves and pollen.  The highly polished surface is a perfect background to this intricate jar.  All the various colors are derived from natural clay slips.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Jennifer Tafoya”.
