Wow!  This is a striking jar by Jennifer Tafoya. The shape is elegant with a round shoulder and slightly turned out rim.  The entire jar is fully polished and she even polished inside the neck of the jar.  Around the shoulder and neck are dragonflies, plant and water designs. Check out the detail on the dragonfly wings!  Amazing!  The water waves are equally captivating. Below the shoulder, there are three koi swimming in the swirling waves.  The waves around the fish are more deeply etched.  The fish are highly etched to create the scales.  Throughout the jar, all the different colors are natural clay slips.  The colorations are dynamic and varied across the surface.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Jennifer Tafoya”.  Jennifer continues to be one of the leading innovative potters working today!  She most recently won the “Tony Da Award” for innovative pottery at Santa Fe Indian Market in 2019.
