This is a striking bear by Juan Tafoya.  It is from 1985.  The bear is coil built and matte polished.  It is Juan’s iconic style of bear with the short head and rounded legs.  There are inset turquoise for the eyes and on the back.  Interestingly, note how he has used hei-shi beds around the turquoise stone on the back to function like a bezel!  The bear is signed in the clay on the bottom, “Juan Tafoya”.  It is in excellent good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
