This is a lager clay bear by Juan Tafoya.  It is from 1989.  The bear is coil built and it is fully polished.  It has Juan’s iconic style of a bear with a short head and rounded legs. The inside of the legs is matte.  There is an inset turquoise for each of the eyes.  It was traditionally fired a darker red coloration. The bear is signed in the clay on the bottom, “Juan Tafoya”.  It is in excellent good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
