Legoria Tafoya Legoria was a sister of painter Pablita Velarde. She was the mother of noted potter Celes Tafoya. This jar has a round shoulder and an elongated neck.  It is one of her few painted vessels instead of one that is carved.  It is patined black-on-black with a sun, rain and cloud designs.  The jar was fired to a glassy black coloration.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, Legoria”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
