This is a small carved bowl by Margaret Tafoya.  It is not often that she made smaller pieces and it was usually when she had clay remaining to use before she would begin mixing a new batch.  This bowl is carved with four interconnected dragonflies as the design.  They are very deeply carved into the clay.  The surface is fully polished and the bowl is fired a deep black coloration.  The bowl is from the 1950s and it is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Margaret Tafoya”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  Small but classic!
