This is a classic carved jar by Margaret Tafoya is from the 1960s.  The jar is coil-built and has a round body and is fully carved.  The design is a cloud, rain, and wind design.  It is deeply carved into the clay.  This style of design is and shape are classic for her work from this period. The jar is highly polished and fired a deep black.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Margaret”.  It’s a creative piece reflecting one of her most creative periods.
