7.25"w x 7.5"h

$ 6,500.00

This large carved jar by Margaret Tafoya is from the 1980s.  In her later years, she worked on smaller pieces and created more red-ware than earlier in her career.  This jar is a larger piece for her later pottery but one of her classic shapes with a low shoulder and an elongated neck.  The jar is carved into two bands of design.  The top band is the “rainbow”.  Below are the mountains, rain, and eagle feathers.  As the jar is turned the two bands of design converge in a section of cloud and lightning patterns.  The jar is deeply carved and highly polished.  The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Margaret Tafoya”.
