Mida Tafoya is a daughter of Christina Naranjo and a sister of Teresita Naranjo and Mary Cain.  She is known for her traditional style of Santa Clara carved pottery.  This tall jar is carved with a water serpent (avanyu) encircling the piece.  The rim of the bowl has cloud and rain patterns carved into the negative space.  The entire piece is fully polished.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Mida Tafoya”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
