Tafoya-Sanchez, Linda – Box with Kiva Step Design (1986)
This is an early piece by Linda Tafoya-Sanchez. She is a granddaughter of noted potter Margaret Tafoya and a daughter of Lee & Betty Tafoya. She is known for her intricately carved pottery. The box is rectangular in shape and carved with a kiva step design on the outside. The entire surface is fully polished. The lid is fully polished on the top and bottom. It has a handle and sits on the top rim of the box. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Linda Tafoya Oyenque”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
