Tafoya-Sanchez, Linda – Horno Oven and Base (1986)

2"w x 2"h

$ 110.00

This is an early piece by Linda Tafoya-Sanchez.  She is a granddaughter of noted potter Margaret Tafoya and a daughter of Lee & Betty Tafoya.  She is known for her intricately carved pottery.  It is a clay representation of a “horno oven”.  This is the round oven used to bake bread at the pueblos.  This is two pieces.  The stand is carved with a space for the oven to sit.  The recessed area is matte while the rest is polished.  The oven part is fully polished and has a half-round door and the opening for the heat to escape during the baking process.  It is a charming smaller piece and perfectly executed.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Linda Tafoya”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
