Linda Tafoya-Sanchez is a granddaughter of noted potter Margaret Tafoya and she is known for her carved pottery.  This is a classic round bowl that is fully carved in four sections. There is a bear paw, bird, gourd plant, and clouds.  Each is complex in design and deeply carved into the clay. The bowl is highly polished and the rim is painted black-on-black with a cloud pattern. The bowl is traditionally fired a deep black coloration.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Linda Tafoya-Sanchez”.  It’s great to see such creative and traditional work from her in the gallery!
