Shirley Tafoya was the youngest daughter of Margaret Tafoya and was known for her miniature pottery.  This bowl is from the 1990s.  It is deeply carved around the neck with nine rounded clouds.  Below them, the bowl is fully polished and there are three deeply carved bear paws as the design.  They are fully polished and the piece was fired to a glassy black. Typical of her pottery, it is thin-walled, precision carved, and elegant in form and design.  The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Shirley Cactus Blossom Tafoya”. A classic of Tafoya Family pottery!
