Vangie Tafoya is a granddaughter of Maria Sanchez Colaque and the mother of Helen Henderson and Brenda Tafoya.  She is known for her polished and incised pottery.  This small seed jar is coil-built. It is polished red and has an incised hummingbird, flower, and feather pattern.  As the piece is turned, there are two mica slipped and polished melon ribs. The back part of the jar is polished tan.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Vangie Tafoya”.  The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
