Joe Talachy (b. 1943) and Thelma Talachy (b. 1942) are two of the few potters from Pojoaque Pueblo in New Mexico.  Thelma is a sister of Minnie Vigil, Lois Gutierrez and Gloria Garcia.  Their daughter, Melissa Talachy, is also a well-known potter.  Each piece is coil built and painted with natural clay slips.  This bowl utilizes multiple colors of clay used for the rain and lightning designs.  It is very tightly painted.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Joe & Thelma Talachy”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
