$ 150.00

Stella Tanner (Kwa Povi) and her son Roy (Tsigowanu) began making pottery together in 1976.  Stella was a granddaughter of Luteria Atencio, a daughter of Crucita Talalchy, and a sister of Mary Gutierrez and Joe Talachy.  It was Luteria who taught them both to make pottery.   Stella made and polished the pottery and Roy etched the designs into the surface. This bowl is polished red and has one section of design.  There is a large Big Horn Sheep etched into the clay.  It has a feather design on one side and a mountain pattern on the other.  It was made in 1983.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom, “Kwa Povi & Tsigowanu”.  They stopped working around 1985 but during their brief career as potters, they won awards at Santa Fe Indian Market and  Eight Northern Indian Market.
