Leonidas Tapia began making pottery in the late 1960s.  She was the mother of potters Tom Tapia and Mary Trujillo.  This is a bowl that has a square mouth with four sides that are pushed downward. The top and bottom are fully polished red. The central band is incised with cloud, rain, mountain, and lightning designs.  They are outlined in white with red and tan colorations.  It is a complex designed bowl.  It is signed, “Leonidas Tapia”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
