Tenorio, Robert – Black-and-White “Chaco Canyon” Style Jar (2005)

8"w x 7.5"h

$ 700.00

This bowl by Robert Tenorio is inspired by the pottery of Chaco Canyon.  It is coil built and painted with wild spinach (black) on a cream-colored clay slip base. The jar has a round body and a short neck.  Around the neck are lighting and rain designs.  Additional lightning and rain designs are painted around the body of the jar.  Robert said he fired the jar so that it would have a smoky surface and look more like the ancient pottery.  Note the one area with the darker smoke smudge.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Robert Tenorio, Kewa”.  It was made in 2005.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
