6.75"w x 4.5"h

$ 250.00

This is a classic polychrome bowl by Robert Tenorio.  The bowl s painted with wild spinach (black) and red and copper colored clay slips.  Around the sloping neck of the bowl is a feather pattern and note the colorations colored areas.  Robert used both red and copper-colored clays to shade the ends of the feathers.  One section has two hummingbirds.  Each bird is painted in an older style with areas of red and copper-colored clay.  Below the shoulder is a cloud design.  The interior of the bowl is slipped red and there is one of his classic impressed handprints.  Note as well that the jar has a “spirit line” or a break in the painted line around the rim.  This goes back to historic Kewa pottery when the artist would use the spirit line to release their spirit or connection from the vessel.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Robert Tenorio, Kewa”. It is from 2018 and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
