This is a classic Kewa style water jar by Robert Tenorio.  The jar is painted with wild spinach (black) on a cream-colored clay slip base.  The jar has a round shoulder with a short neck and turned-out rim.  On the inside of the rim, there is a checkerboard design.  It is an elegant shape.  Around the neck are flower petals.  Around the shoulder are butterfly designs. The jar was traditionally fired outdoors.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Robert Tenorio, Kewa”.  It was made in 2002.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
