Tenorio, Thomas – Jar with Birds and Geometric Designs
Thomas Tenorio is from the Aguilar family of Kewa Pueblo. Amazingly, he taught himself to make pottery! This water jar has Santo Domingo style birds painted around the neck of the piece. The birds are separated by plant designs. The body of the jar has five rows of geometric patterns. The designs are in the style of older, historic Santo Domingo pottery. The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Thomas Tenorio”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
