Jackie  Torivio (b. 1957) is Acoma/Laguna/ Pueblos and uses traditional clay and slips to paint her pottery.  Jackie learned to make pottery from her grandmother and mother.  This large seedpot is an unusual shape with a sharp shoulder and flat top. The entire piece is fully stone polished. The top is painted with bee-weed and there is a running deer as the design.  It is a striking design and note the step designs in the background with the small dots!  The body of the deer has various traditional design elements.  The piece is signed on the bottom, “J.  Torivio”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
