Torivio, Jackie – “Spiral Flowers” Seedpot (1994)

2"w x 2.75"h

$ 350.00

Mike and Jackie Torivio are a collaborative pair known for their innovative pottery. Jackie (b. 1957) is Acoma/Laguna/Acoma and Mike (b. 1958) is from Acoma.  They use traditional clay and slips to paint their pottery.  Jackie learned to make pottery from her grandmother and mother.  This piece is just signed by Jackie, but as it is an early piece of their work, was probably painted by Mke.  The piece has an oval form.  It has flower designs that spiral out from the top of the piece.  They go from very tiny at the top to larger by the base.  The flowers are painted both with interlocking fine-line designs and a black-and-white flower pattern. The piece is signed on the bottom, “J. Torivio”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
