$ 275.00

Persignula Tosa (1923-1996) was a daughter of Lupe Romero and the mother Pauline Romero and mother-in-law of Christine Tosa.  She taught both of them to make pottery.  Persingular was well known for her figurative pottery and began signing in the 1940s. This is one of her storytellers from the 1960s. The figure is made with native clay and painted with poster or acrylic paints, which was common at that time.  There are eight children on the figure.  Note the painting of the squash blossom necklace.  The piece is signed on the bottom, “Persingula Tosa”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  In my 26 years at the gallery, this is only the second piece of her work that we have had come into the gallery!
