John Toya began making pottery in 1994.  This is a very large and fully designed jar.  It is very intricately painted using natural clay slips and the jar is coil built.  There is a bird on one side and a sun design on the opposite side. Separating the two medallions are large corn designs.  The jar has over seven different clay colors used for the designs.  The detail of the imagery is quite exceptional.  The jar is signed on the bottom “John F. Toya”.  it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
