Trujillo, Adrian – 13″ Tall Jar with Bears, Rabbits and Rainbows

13.25"w x 13.25"h

$ 1,800.00

Adrian Trujillo is a descendant of noted Acoma potter Sarah Garcia.  He is known for his large, coil-built pottery.  This exceptional jar is coil built and painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay slip.  There are alternating heartline bears and Mimbres rabbits around the side of the jar.  Around the neck are rain designs and above the shoulder are cloud, rain and mountain aptterns.  Each of the animals is surrounded by a red triangular design. The animals have additional fine-line designs around them.  There is a striking precision and symmetry to the designs and complicated style of painting!  The base is slipped red and indented, in the traditional Acoma manner.  It is signed on the bottom, “Adrian Trujillo”.
