Tse-Pe, Jennifer Sisneros – San Juan Polychrome Incised Bowl (1980s)

5.5"w x 4.5"h

$ 250.00

Jennifer Sisneros Tse-pe is a daughter of Dominguita Sisneros-Naranjo and a granddaughter of Tomasita Montoya from Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo.  This is the first time I’ve come across any of her more traditional San Juan-style pottery.  This bowl is fully polished a deep red on the top and bottom. Around the center, it is incised with cloud and lightning designs.  The designs are tan and red with a white outline.  The deep red reminds me of the early pottery of Tomasita Montoya and the use of the deep red clay.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Jennifer”.  My photos really don’t do the polishing and shine justice.  It’s quite striking in person!
