This is a large coil-built jar that is one of four he has created that are the largest of his career to this point. This jar is a classic storage jar shape with a low shoulder and straight sides.  The jar was stone polished at an angle.  There are rounded extrusions around the neck of the jar in two rows.  The piece was reduction fired to create the black/slivery coloration.  Amazingly, the black and gray colorations from the firing, along with the swirl of the polish, give the jar an amazing appearance!  It is hard to capture the subtle depth of coloration on this jar!  This piece tall, thin walled, and visually striking in person. The last photos are ones of Jared with all four of these important pieces together.  I thought it created a sense of scale and size and it was Jared’s first time to have them all together at the same time! The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Jared Tso”.
