Tso, Jared – Tall Jar with Triple Band Rim
We are very pleased to introduce the clay work of Jared Tso and be one of the first galleries to represent his pottery. He is a grandson of potter Faye Tso and his pottery is exceptionally refined in technique and traditional in style. Each piece is coil built, traditionally fired and covered in pinon pitch after the firing. This is a stunning larger jar by Jared Tso. This is a tall jar which has three bands of raised design on the exterior rim. The raised band is incised with a linear design. The dynamic part of this jar is the polishing and the coloration. The jar is polished at an angle from the neck to the base. The jar is fired to with amazing colorations in variations of black swirling around the surface. Vessels such as this find strength in their traditional techniques yet are refined in a modernistic manner. The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Jared Tso.” The piece has an honorable mention from the 2019 Santa Fe Indian Market and a Blue Ribbon from the 2019 Navajo Nation Art Fair.
