Tso, Jared – Traditional Micaceous Bowl with FireClouds and Raised Rim

10.25"w x 4"h

$ 975.00

Jared Tso is one of the rising stars of Native pottery.  He is a grandson of note Dine potter Faye Tso.  His pottery is exceptionally refined in technique and traditional in style.  Each piece is coil-built from traditional native Navajo clay and traditionally fired.  This open bowl is made from micaceous clay.  It is thin-walled and there is a raised band around the outside which is often seen in traditional Navajo pottery.  The band is incised with an angular mountain design.  The piece was outdoor fired creating exceptional fire clouds on both the inside and outside!  The piece has amazing coloration to the surface. Vessels such as this find strength in their traditional techniques yet are refined in a modernistic manner.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Jared Tso”.
