Unsigned – Cow Effigy Pitcher (1950s)

7"w x 8.5"h

$ 500.00

This piece is an unsigned Acoma pitcher from the 1950s.  It is coil-built and painted with native clay slips and bee-weed (black).  The body of the pitcher has classic rain and mountain designs.  It is highly detailed. The “spout” is the cow effigy, which is charming in style. The handle has a corrugated band on top.  On the bottom, it says, “Acoma,NM”.  It was traditionally fired to create the blushes on the surface.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
