This bowl is unsigned bowl is from the 1920’s.  It has a sharp shoulder and it is fully polished on the inside and outside. The bowl has squared off handles which extend onto the bowl with three “fingers”.  This is a style which was common at Santa Clara Pueblo in the 1920’s.  Margaret Tafoya says that she remembers seeing photos in books of Greek and Roman pottery with “hand” handles, and that is where the inspiration comes from.  It is fascinating to realize how pottery vessels from 100 years ago were as innovative and reflective of the world around them as pieces being made today!  The bowl is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  There are some surface scratches and wear typical of a piece this age.
