Vallo, Leland – Jar with Deer and Deer Dancers (1990s)

5.5"w x 5"h

$ 250.00

Leland Vallo was a son of noted potter, Marie Vallo, and the brother of Kim Vallo. He learned to make pottery from his mother and began making pottery in 1991. This jar is coil built, thin-walled, and intricately painted.  There are four medallions with Pueblo-style deer, and Pueblo Deer Dancers circling the shoulder.  Around the neck and shoulder are rain and bird wing patterns.  The entire jar is very fully designed!  Below the shoulder is a classic Tularosa Swirl design in black-and-white.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “L.  Vallo”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
