Leland Vallo was a son of noted potter, Marie Vallo, and the brother of Kim Vallo. He learned to make pottery from his mother and began making pottery in 1991. This jar is coil built, thin-walled, and intricately painted.  There is one medallion with a Pueblo-style Deer Dancer.  It is surrounded by rain, feather, and bird wing designs.  The neck of the jar is carved with a kiva step design.  Below the shoulder is a classic Tularosa Swirl design in black-and-white.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “L.  Vallo”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
