Leland Vallo was a son of noted potter, Marie Vallo, and the brother of Kim Vallo. He learned to make pottery from his mother and began making pottery in 1991. This jar is coil-built, thin-walled, and intricately painted.  The jar has a long neck with two bands of very tight corrugation.  There are painted cloud, rain and water designs.  Below the shoulder are a larder bear, lizard, and deer, highlighted with clay slips.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “L.  Vallo”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
