Vallo, Marie – Jar with Mimbres Figures (1996)

4.25"w x 3.25"h

$ 125.00

Marie Vallo was a daughter of Gladys Garica. She was the mother of noted potters Leland Vallo and Kim Vallo. This jar is coil built and has traditional fine-line Acoma designs. There are sections with Mimbres flute players (that almost look like butterflies!).  They are surrounded by traditional rain and plant designs. The entire piece is very tightly painted.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “M. Vallo and W. Begay”.  Near the end of her life, she worked in collaboration with Wesley Begay. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
