10.25"w x 10.25"h

$ 1,200.00

Katherine Victorino is a daughter of accomplished Acoma potter Monroe Victorino.  She began making pottery at nine years old and attributes her pottery education to her step-mother Beverly Garcia.  Katherine says; “I started by filling in the lines for my step-mother, and gradually I learned the traditional methods of hand-coil construction and fine line painting (using only yucca brushes) well enough to make pottery full time at the age of twenty.” This large jar is the classic Acoma olla shape with a high shoulder.  The jar is fully designed with a starburst pattern on the sides and a feather and geometric pattern at the rim and the base.  It is striking how she painted the design with such a flow across the surface of the entire piece.  The jar is signed on the bottom.
