Vigil, Robert – Black Micaceous Square Neck Jar with Turquoise

5"w x 3.5"h

$ 275.00

Robert Vigil learned to make pottery from Lonnie Vigil and Virginia Gutierrez.  Each piece is coil made with micaceous clay and micaceous clay slipped.  This piece was traditionally fired to create the black coloration.  This jar has a sharp shoulder and a square neck. The area leading up to the neck is lightly carved. There is an inset piece of turquoise on the neck.  The black varies from dark areas to nearly gunmetal.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Robert Vigil, Nambe”.
