Whitegeese, Daryl – Red Water Jar (2010) Ribbons

7.5"w x 8.5"h

$ 2,200.00

This is a classic round shoulder water jar by Daryl Whitegeese.  Daryl said he was inspired by the shapes of the water jars made by his grandmother, Margaret Tafoya.  The jar has a round shape and a short neck.  The jar has three bear paws as the design and it is impressed into the clay on the neck. The entire piece was fully polished and fired a glassy red.  The bear paws represent a Tewa story where a bear led the Pueblo people to water during a drought.   The jar is signed on the bottom, ‘Daryl Whitegeese”.  It has ribbons from the 2010 Santa Fe Indian Market and Eight Northern Pueblos.  Definitely a classic piece keeping family history alive!
