Whitehorne, Jerry – Jar with Painted Designs (1990s)

Jerry Whitehorne is from Shonto, Arizona. This jar is coil-built with native clay. It is a classic water jar with a round shoulder and long neck. The jar was traditionally fired to create the blushes on the surface. It was painted around the shoulder and then covered in pinon-pitch in the traditional Navajo pottery style The jar is signed on the bottom, “Jerry Whitehorne”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
