Wildflower, Theresa – Mini Jar with Carved Flowers and Flower Lid (1980s)
Theresa Wildflower was known for her miniature pottery. Each piece was made as a miniature version of a larger vessel and she would incorporate the work of various tribes and Pueblos. This jar is one of the most complicated I’ve seen of her work. The lid is a single flower. However, it is the shoulder of the jar that is amazing. It is cut through with a flower and leaves that encircle the piece! It is amazingly detailed for the size and a surprise that it didn’t break in carving. The piece is signed on the bottom with her hallmark. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
