Williams, Lorraine – Long Neck Water Jar with Rain Designs

4.75"w x 6.5"h

$ 200.00

This is a long-neck water jar by Lorraine Williams. The jar has a low shoulder and an elongated neck. The piece is the natural color of the clay.  Around the shoulder the jar is incised with rain designs that extend downward.  The jar was traditionally fired to create the color variations on the surface.  After the firing, it is covered in pinon pitch, which is typical of all traditional Navajo pottery harkening back to when it was utilitarian.  Lorraine has won numerous awards for her pottery and has been featured in books such as “A Legacy of Generations”.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “LW”.
