Youngblood, Nancy & Christopher Youngblood – 16 Rib Red Melon Bowl with Flame Lid
This is a striking collaborative piece by Nancy Youngblood and her son, Christopher Youngblood. The bowl was made by Chris and it is carved with sixteen melon ribs, each rounded out and fully polished. The inside of the bowl is slipped with mica. The lid was made by Nancy Youngblood. It has her classic “flame” design which consists of tightly carved melon ribs into the lid of the piece. The result is a “flame” as the lid, which sits perfectly into the carved edge of the bowl. Both pieces were traditionally fired and are a striking red coloration. The collaboration brings together two exceptional potters with one piece. The bowl is signed by Chris and the lid by Nancy. It is exciting to see the variation and complementary creativity of these two amazing potters!
