Stuart Riley, Jr. is a great-grandson of Marty Gaithea and the son of Bertha and Stuart Riley.  This bowl is coil-built and made from native clay.  It is painted with bee-weed and clay slips.  The bowl has diamond shapes with checkerboard interior. They are meant to represent cornfields.  Separating them are corn plants or flowers.  It is a VERY classic Acoma design.  The bowl is from the 1980s and it is signed, ‘Stuart Riley, Jr.”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
