Suina, Vangie – Storyteller with 25 Children (1980s)
$ 1,500.00
Mary Evangeline “Vangie” Suina (b. 1959) learned to make pottery from her mother, Louise E. Suina (1939-1992). This is one of her classic storytellers with 25 children. Each of the children is doing something different, from holding a ball to reading a book and on the back, playing checkers! They are each on and around her shawl. It is a really complex and striking piece. The mother has on a shawl which is also intricately painted on the back. The figure is signed on the bottom, “Vangie Suina”. It is from the early 1980s and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
